-[Abstract]-

This study dealt with the contemporary electronic payment using jurisprudential and comparative study approach. The study consisted of introductory chapter followed by five chapters as follow:

Chapter one, the introductory chapter, described money and its developmental stages, the contemporary electronic payment: its characteristics, advantages and disadvantages as well as its future perspectives.

In chapter two, the researcher described ATM card, its concept, definition and principles, its characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, jurisprudential adjustment, in addition to legitimacy rule of its services.

Chapter three, dealt with opened pre-payment card, its concept, definition, principles, characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, jurisprudential adjustment, in addition to legitimacy rule of its services.

Chapter four about the closed stored value card: its concept, definition, principles, characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, jurisprudential adjustment, in addition to legitimacy rule of its services.

Chapter five described the smart card: its concept, definition, differences from other cards in addition to its characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, jurisprudential adjustment, and the legitimacy rule of its services.

Chapter six included the electronic networks, its definition, and importance and compares it to other non-electronic networks, credit cards, as well as its characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, jurisprudential adjustment, in addition to legitimacy rule of its services.

The research came with a conclusion including the most important results of the study and recommendations. The last section contains the contents of the study so as to facilitate help the readers how to find what they seek for.
